Great value

The natural rust patina makes for a messy assembly. I think I may sand the exterior and paint with a high temp paint. Before I put outside I drilled a series of holes in the bottom of the cauldron. This will serve two purposes the first being drainage and secondly allowing airflow to feed the fire. I think for the money it is a tremendous value. The 4 legs are very sturdy and it looks like it should serve years of service. No fires in it yet as it is 103 in SC right now but looking forward to using in the fall and winter.

Great looking but has some usability issues

Have to agree with the other reviews that it is brittle. Don't drop it. Also confirm that the nuts+bolts were all rusted together: I was out of luck when two of the screws and bolts could not be separated. They only provide the exact number of fasteners you need...(come on, these are cheap) On the other hand it looks great and is a nice shape. I had a drain hole drilled in mine by a machine shop.

Pricey, but worth it.

I've been using mine (34") for about 3 years. No issues. Yes, you get rust all over your hands when you put it together. No big deal. I really love it, but you really do need to drill several holes in the bottom for drainage when it rains. The other drawback is it's impossible to find a 34" screen. I ended up buying a 30" and it fits inside rather than on the rim of the pit. Also, not a big deal. I'm thinking this fire pit will last me forever.

I was looking for a thick gage of iron.

For me it was easy to assemble. The steel colored cast iron fire pit is a thick gage of iron, so I'm hoping it will last us at lease 5yrs or longer. I would recommend to clean it out after every use. You may want to drill some extra holes because there is only one hole for water to drain. It puts off a really nice glow. I very happy with this purchase. I wasn't sure if it was deep enough, but no worries here, it's great for us. I like that it's stands higher then our previous fire pit. I have used this fire pit 3 or 4 times already.
